Millfield, Minnesota
Two chairs and two steaming mugs on a wet farmhouse porch at dusk. A steel barn stands beyond it, storm cloud over the field, and one lit window behind.

Cold Front

Three books, two people, and one farm that does not care how anybody feels about it.

One couple, all the way through.

Cold Front follows Elena Hartwell and Jake Morrison across three books. It is not a series that hands off to a new couple each time — the same two people carry the whole thing, and the story keeps going after the first book ends.

She is a widowed farmer holding two hundred and eighty acres together on grit and patched machinery. He is a Marine veteran who stopped moving for the first time since he left the service. Nobody rescues anybody. It takes a season before either of them will admit to wanting anything, and the books are honest about how long that takes.

Millfield is the town all of it happens in — and the town other stories will happen in later.

Where it happens.

Every location in Millfield belongs to somebody. The weather has consequences. The co-op bench has an opinion about all of it. The books stand on their own — but the town is there if you want it.
